Middle School Youth Rally: day to focus on what makes people fully alive

OND  Staff Reports

The Middle School Youth Rally will be held at St. Philip, Bemidji on March 18. The doors open at 12:30 and the rally runs from 1-7:30 p.m. The event will include praise and worship led by Connor Flanagan, a keynote presentation from Maggie Craig, Eucharistic Adoration, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Mass with Bishop Michael J. Hoeppner, breakout time including the opportunity to attend a concert, a three-on-three basketball tournament, snack shop and dinner.

This year’s Diocesan Middle School Youth Rally theme entitled, “Fully Alive” will dive into the question about what or who makes people fully alive.

Through the busyness of school, friends, and media, kids are being exposed to a variety of competing voices seeking to convince them that they are the sure way to happiness. Ultimately, pursuing those will leave them empty and searching for more.

To become fully alive, a person’s identity must be in Jesus Christ and what he offers us. The keynote speaker and worship leader will highlight what it means to have an identity in Christ and to become fully alive through a lived-out relationship with him.

Craig, the keynote presenter, is from Denver and recently graduated with honors from Franciscan University of Steubenville with a master’s degree in theology and a bachelor’s degree in catechetics. Maggie brings the joy of the Gospel to parishes, schools and youth groups across the country with humorous personal stories and dynamic authenticity.

Flanagan, the worship leader, is a recording artist from Cleveland, Ohio. He is known for his authentic stage presence and unique musical presentation. His first full-length album, “Close to You”, landed in the top ten on the iTunes charts. Flanagan is committed to writing music that resonates with the human experience. His storytelling abilities paired with his hip-hop vibe set him apart and allow him to connect with people from all walks of life.
